Custom design, innovative solutions and exceptional attention to detail

Coastal Connections is a premier electrical contractor offering complete lighting, automation and electrical services to discerning, residential and commercial clients in the greater Auckland region.

Based in Orewa, Coastal Connections was founded by Managing Director Joe Kelly in direct response to market demand for a highly professional contractor who aligns their strengths with the needs of their clients.

Coastal Connections is fully accredited under the Master Electricians brand, New Zealand’s only electrical contracting trade organisation. All our work is backed by their $20,000 guarantee.

We’re not part of a national franchise — we’re independent and agile. Our founding principles encompass the perfect combination of ethics, motivation, hard work and passion for design.

Our commitment to continuous training, innovative solutions, and the highest level of quality and service is what sets us apart. We bring the same care and attention to every project we work on, irrespective of size, budget and market sector.

Your premier choice for lighting, automation and electrical projects

We work in close partnership with our clients and, where applicable, their team of industry professionals to provide a full range of services from concept and design through to completion and maintenance.

As registered Master Electricians, we cover all electrical aspects of your new-build property’s design and construction phase, as well as retrofitting or upgrading services for existing properties. Our team of electricians are qualified to work on all your electrical projects.

The Team

Honesty, integrity, reliability and efficiency — these are the core values held by Founder and Managing Director Joe Kelly and his Coastal Connections team. Combined with our expertise, experience and ongoing training, you have a team of dedicated professionals at your disposal.

Joe Kelly

FOUNDER | ELECTRICAL ENGINEER & AUTOMATION EXPERT

Originally from the UK, Joe is an internationally trained electrician and automation specialist with more than a decade of wide-ranging experience in the industry, both in New Zealand and overseas.

Dissatisfaction with the practices he encountered in the industry in Auckland, and disillusioned with the way clients were being treated, Joe took the initiative to start his own business.

With a firm conviction that nothing can replace quality, reliability and integrity when it comes to service delivery, Joe built Coastal Connections on three pillars: obsessive attention to detail, a flair for design and an excellent relationship with clients.

Joe maintains up-to-date accreditations from Master Electricians and all the major suppliers. And, as a family-owned business, he values Coastal Connections’ reputation. Joe knows word-of-mouth recommendation is his most effective form of marketing.

Joe personally oversees each stage of every project to ensure quality control, on-time completion within budget, and client satisfaction.

As a husband and proud father of two, Joe enjoys golf and being in or near the sea.

Kimberly Kelly

CO-FOUNDER & LIGHTING DESIGNER

Kimberly is our in-house lighting designer, having obtained a formal qualification in this speciality and is a TechIES member. She understands the impact that lighting design has on the interior and architectural environment of a property and is deeply passionate about quality lighting and how lighting can make you feel in a space.

Kimberly was previously a registered nurse for ten years and has successfully transferred highly sought-after skills to her role at Coastal Connections; effective communication, time management, scheduling and practice organisation.

Plus, Kimberly’s innate compassion, patience and understanding are invaluable when liaising with clients, suppliers and industry professionals.

A wife and mother to two young children, Kimberly spends her off-duty hours with her family, enjoying the best that New Zealand has to offer: the beach, good food and wine.
